About CitiExchange Express

Company Information

CitiExchange Express & Services was established in 1999. A relatively new company, they have worked hard to achieve their level of success in the short period that they have been running. The company has been in growing steadily over the years, offering new routes, pick-up points and new offices. They have become a favourite amongst travellers for routes between Singapore and Melaka or the Genting Highlands.

CitiExchange Express is primarily a ticketing agent with a focus on express bus services. However, the company has diversified its capabilities and can also book tour packages, make hotel reservations and book airline tickets to neighbouring countries. The company is based in Singapore, right near the Kovan MRT station in Kovan Hub.

Routes served by CitiExchange Express

Singapore–Kuala Lumpur & Melaka

The predominant routes the company runs are to and from three destinations in Malaysia and the Golden Mile Complex in Singapore.

The route through to Kuala Lumpur and Melaka both have busses that leave at 8.00 am from the Golden Mile Complex. The trip through to Kuala Lumpur will take the majority of the day, namely between 5 and 6 hours, depending on how quickly you pass through the immigration at the border, leaving little time for anything else.

The distance to Melaka is substantially shorter however, and will only see you sitting in the bus for around 4 hours. There is also a night bus to Melaka that leaves at 7.00 pm. This is a great way to save the hours of daylight afforded to you on your holiday.

Singapore–Genting Highlands

The route to the Genting Highlands has one bus that departs at 7.30 am from Singapore and another that leaves at 10.00 pm. The journey will entail around 7 hours of pure travelling time. Account for delays at the border into Malaysia. This trip is moderately more affordable when booked through one of the CitiExchange Express busses, saving you around MYR 20. A few of the partners of the company include Starmart Express, Golden Coach Express, Five Stars Express, and Delima Express.

Pros

The company seems to be the only one that offers the very convenient option to board the bus from a more north-easterly area of Singapore. Saving time and money, and sparing your energy and patience, you can hop on the bus at Kovan Hub rather than heading south to the Golden Mile Complex.

A distinct benefit of using the CitiExchange express is the potential for money saved. The general price of the busses are around 10 per cent cheaper than alternatives. For the traveller very wary of their financial constraints, every penny counts.

Possibly the greatest benefit of going with CitiExchange Express over anyone else is the convenience afforded to those needing to depart or board the bus at Kovan Hub. Should you be staying in the more northerly areas of Singapore, this would undoubtedly be your best option.

The busses are by all accounts quite comfortable and have not demonstrated any blatant disregard for maintenance of any kind. Assuring!

Cons

As is far too regularly the case, the seating arrangements that one is able to book in advance are rarely adhered to with CitiExchange Express. Families and groups of travellers are most at risk to be impacted by this.

A common complaint among customers is the lack of lunch breaks or bathroom stops on their journey. While this may not seem like a factor significant enough to sway your decision, consider the sense of helplessness and desperation you would feel if you were not allowed off the bus to go to the bathroom, or to get some food for your children.

Ultimately, the service from CitiExchange Express is not without its sacrifices in quality and comfort. However, should your budget call for cuts where possible, CitiExchange Express is the option for you.
