About Boonsiri High Speed Ferries

Company Information

Boonsiri High Speed Ferries run high-speed catamaran services and started operations out of Trat in November 2013. It also offer bus services to and from the ferry terminal. Primarily connecting the islands of Koh Kood and Koh Mak with Bangkok, Pattaya and Trat, Boonsiri High Speed Ferries allows you to travel on high quality boats that will get you to your destination as quickly as possible.

Routes served by Boonsiri High Speed Ferries

From Bangkok it is possible to book a direct ticket through Boonsiri Ferries taking you all the way to either Koh Kood or Koh Mak, with a ticket that includes bus and ferry.

From Bangkok to Koh Kood & Koh Mak

There are two departures each day to both destinations, leaving at 05.00 (arriving at 12.00 and 15.40 at Koh Kood and Koh Mak respectively) and 08.00 (12.50 and 16.00 arrivals). It's worth noting that during the low season (16 May – 15 October) there are no services to Koh Mak from the capital and just one per day to Koh Kood, leaving Bangkok at 07.00 and arriving at 14.30. Tickets are priced at THB850 for the seven-hour journey to Koh Kood and the trip to Koh Mak costs THB750.

If you're leaving the islands to head back to Bangkok there are two options from Koh Kood each day at 09.00 and 12.00 (arriving at 16.30 and 20.00 respectively) but just one departure at 09.00 during the low season. There is one service leaving Koh Mak for Bangkok each day throughout the year at 12.50, getting to the capital for around 20.30. The journey times and ticket prices are the same in either direction.

From Pattaya to Koh Kood & Koh Mak

If you're already as far south as Pattaya but still want to check out one or both of these islands, Boonsiri Ferries can arrange for this transfer. There is one departure a day from Pattaya between 07-08.00 heading to both islands, with tickets to Koh Kood and Koh Mak priced at THB850 and THB750 respectively, with both trips taking around 8 hours.

If you're heading from Koh Kood to Pattaya, there are two services each day at 09.00 and 12.00 (only the 09.00 ferry will be running during low season). Similarly, there is one ferry a day from Koh Mak to Pattaya at 12.50, arriving at 20.00. Ticket prices to and from Pattaya remain the same regardless of the direction.

Ferries between Koh Kood and Koh Mak

Anyone interested in island hopping can make the hour trip between Koh Kood and Koh Mak once a day. Ferries depart Koh Kood at 12.00 and leave Koh Mak at 15.00 with tickets priced at THB300 for either journey.

From Trat to Koh Kood & Koh Mak

As it can be a long journey from Bangkok to these islands, some visitors prefer to stay in Trat for a night to break up the journey and see a typical Thai town in action. If you're in Trat you can book a ticket to either island from around THB500, with two ferries each day making the 1 ½ hour trip. Departures to both islands are at 10.45 or 14.20 (scheduled to arrive at around 12.50 and 15.40 respectively). There are two ferries per day from Koh Kood to Trat (09.00 and 12.00) and one departing from Koh Mak at 12.50.

Pros

Boonsiri Ferries offers a reliable service with several options each day along this popular route. The boats that are used on these trips tend to be new and in good condition so the company offers good value for money.

The operator can also offer additional drop-offs such as to Trat airport or to Lad Krabang station, just 15 minutes from Suvarnabhumi Airport, which is ideal if you are catching an international flight as you won't have to stay overnight in Bangkok. It's even possible to arrange transfers to Aranyaprathet to cross the border into Cambodia, just a few hours from Siem Reap and the world-famous Angkor Wat.

Cons

It can be hectic trying to figure out what is happening when you're transferring from the bus to a ferry or a taxi. But rest assured, there is a system in place, even if it doesn't look as though that's the case!

If you're heading from Bangkok directly to either Koh Kood or Koh Mak, be aware that this is a very long and tiring journey. If you do not wish to fly to Trat, whether that's down to your budget or you just wish to see as much of the country as possible, you may want to consider breaking up the journey. Delays are fairly common and there can often be quite a lot of waiting around when you are changing vehicles so the journey can sometimes feel never-ending!

Keep in mind

On Boonsiri Ferries, children under five years old can travel for free and those aged above 5 years old have to pay adult fare. Prices do not change whether it is high or low season but the departure times do, so bear this in mind.

Boonsiri Ferries class 16 October – 15 May as high season and 16 May – 15 October as low season.

If you're travelling from Bangkok to either Koh Kood or Koh Mak you will need to catch a bus at the Boonsiri Ferries office in the city centre. This is located on Tanee Road, close to Khao San Road, it's worth arriving at least 30 minutes before the bus leaves.

Travellers reviews

The range of services and destinations offered by Boonsiri Ferries is valued highly by travellers.

There are many extra services offered by the operator such as drop-offs at Lad Krabang, invaluable if you have a flight to catch or would rather avoid having to pay extra for a hotel in Bangkok.

Overall, most customers felt that Boonsiri Ferries offered excellent value for money, with perks including free shuttle buses to resorts on Koh Kood waiting at the ferry terminal, a particularly welcome sight if you've travelled all the way from Bangkok that day and can't face haggling for a taxi for the final stage of your journey.

The package tickets from Bangkok and Pattaya to either island are very well-priced at THB750 to Koh Mak and THB850 to Koh Kood. Ferry tickets alone from Trat to Koh Kood cost THB500 so you are travelling from Bangkok to the ferry terminal for just THB350, that's excellent value!

Bus Standard, Boonsiri High Speed Ferries, Sep 19, 2026
We took a Bolt taxi from the hotel to the office. From there, the bus departed promptly at 5:00 AM after we checked in on the first floor of the office. The bus ride was comfortable, and we were able to sleep well during the journey. Upon arriving at the pier behind Trat, we were offered a hot meal, which we had selected before the bus trip. Then, a shuttle took us down the pier to the boat. After a fairly quick boat ride, we arrived on Koh Kut. There, we were directed to a shuttle that took us directly to our small accommodation. Everything went perfectly from start to finish. As a European, the procedures initially seemed unfamiliar, but they worked incredibly well. It was so efficient that I barely had to carry my bags a single meter from the hotel in Bangkok to the bungalow on the island, even though I'm a backpacker. Highly recommended!

Ferry Shuttle Service + High Speed Catamaran + Shuttle Service, Boonsiri High Speed Ferries, Sep 18, 2026
Unfortunately, we cannot recommend Boonsiri. We booked a transfer to the pier and were picked up on time. However, when the driver arrived, the van was already so full that additional seats at the very back near the tailgate had to be used. There were no seat belts, the construction was loose and partly rusted, and overall it felt extremely unsafe. What made it worse was the driving. The driver was going very fast, especially around corners, without considering the passengers sitting in the back. We had to hold on tightly to avoid being thrown from our seats. Several passengers felt sick during the journey. The rusty parts we had to hold onto also left our hands dirty and, in some cases, caused minor injuries. When we explained that we did not feel safe continuing with another transfer under these conditions, there was very little understanding and no reasonable alternative was offered. We therefore decided not to take the second booked transfer from the Koh Kood pier to our hotel. Instead, we rented a scooter directly next to the pier. In the end, we were very happy with that decision. We got to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Koh Kood on our own and did not need a transfer for the return journey either. Our recommendation: book only the ferry and rent a scooter directly at the pier, provided you are comfortable and experienced riding one. Unless, of course, you are looking for a roller-coaster ride — just without the safety measures. When transporting tourists, passenger safety should always come first. Based on our experience, we definitely cannot recommend Boonsiri’s transfer service.

I’ve made the journey through multiple provider’s over the years and this Ewa by far the worst logistical experience I’ve had, pick up wa on time at 7,30 from our hotel in pratumnak Pattaya, we then had to drive to north pattaya, wut at some office until 8,40 then reboard, drive north to chon Buri to let up with another bus that was obviously coming from bangkok,,, so really we only started the journey at 10am, then drive to the pier to koh chang, wait 30 minute when we arrive, walk onto the ferry, and get one of the local truck taxis on the other side, What happened to a van pickup direct to the ferry, drive on and drop off to hotel in the same vehicle!??

The bus was one time the boat was on time and it made the whole ride a lot smoother knowing I had all 4 ways of transport lined up from one set of tickets. They also offer water and food and makes 1 stop on both bus rides at a 7/11 for a bathroom break or food.

We had a great experience from booking the trip, to the traveling to the arrival. Staff were excellent all the way. The boat and bus were very clean. The bus driver was an excellent driver and it takes a lot for me to say that as I am a very nervous passenger.

After being late for 45 minutes, the driver just dropped us in the middle of the road to switch vans, after the company specifically promised that the ride will be from the hotel directly to the pier. Then, the other van let us wait for 30 minutes and didn’t pick up the phone, it was completely frustrating! Because of being hour and a half late, the second van drove like 120kmh through the entire ride. The only positive side was the ferry and the private ride to the hotel from the pier in ko samui, went pretty smooth.

Got to check in and they didn’t even have my order even though I’d printed out my ticket!! Made me stand in the sun for 20 minutes whilst they faffed around and eventually wrote hand written tickets. When we got the other side it was really unclear how to get our transfer to the airport and had to wander around asking people. Wish we’d just booked the earlier Seatran ferry.

I purchased the transport with Boonsiri from Bangkok to Koh Kood. Excellent service, with clear and accurate information, punctual schedules, and a comfortable journey both on the bus and the catamaran. The entire Boonsiri team was extremely kind and helpful, especially when they went out of their way to find a sweatshirt I had accidentally left behind during the trip. I would definitely recommend Boonsiri for their excellent service. Thank you!

Excellent organisation, the team is punctual, organised and friendly. They were awaiting us and a few other travellers at the airport with a sign, so we wouldn't miss them. We travelled in a small van from the airport to the pier- and then stayed at the pier for a few hours before departing to Koh Tao. Only shame is that we had to wait from around 10AM to 1PM prior to travelling to Koh Tao. Other than that, the organisation was excellent!

I needed to repurchase the ticket in the app because of an error, and unfortunately it booked the wrong day - yesterday. I guess it moved my choice from the 19th to the 18th on the second time. I needed to buy another ticket, lucky mr to have enough time, but I paid double:( I usually order from the website and not the app. Can you refund me?

A trip to drop four people off in Hua Hin added an hour and a half to the journey to Bangkok. Would suggest that Hua Hin people take an alternative bus or get a transfer taxi in the outskirts of Hua Hin to save the majority going to Bangkok the timely detour.

The bus left Bangkok on time and was comfortable. 5hours later we were at the pier, waiting for the boat. The included meal to the package is acceptable. If you need more, you can buy your own stuff at the pier, no problem. The boat trip was also perfectly on time. The company took care of our luggage. Thanks Boonsiri.

Something was wrong with the boat, but what? We still don’t know. The communication was about nothing. Really bad, but instead of the 2 hours to ko phanang, it was more than 4 hours.
