Pros
Adang Sea Travel have their own fleet of speedboats for sea journeys and vans for ground transportation.
There is a good range of options throughout the day on all of these routes, with departures every couple of hours from the mainland to Koh Lipe. Adang Sea Tour is also a good choice to travel to Hat Yai and the border with Malaysia, ideal for those travelling around the region on a budget or those whose visa is coming to an end and need to exit the country.
One of the main advantages is the cost of tickets, with Adang Sea Tour offering one of the cheapest ways to reach Koh Lipe from the mainland.
Cons
One of the biggest issues with these services is that the sea throughout the journey can get quite rough. If you have ever suffered from seasickness in the past then you will probably want to consider investing in some tablets to combat this and make sure you take them in plenty of time ahead of the journey to ensure they start working!
Unfortunately, delays are fairly common on these routes and the straightforward two hour journey can often extend well beyond this by the time all the passengers have boarded and the trip has been completed.
Keep in mind
Adang Sea Tour can also arrange tours to a wide range of destinations, including Malaysia’s Langkawi, home to one of the best beaches in the region.
Travellers reviews
Adang Sea Tour offers visitors good flexibility on the few routes that are offered, if you are looking to head from the mainland to Koh Lipe then there are several departures spread throughout the day to suit your schedule.
Also, Adang Sea Tour is a good option for anyone who wishes to visit Malaysia directly from Koh Lipe as the operator can arrange for tours of Langkawi, which lies very close to the island. Additionally, the option of services to Hat Yai are popular with travellers as this little-visited city is very close to the border with Malaysia so is an ideal stop for a night or two on the way to the border. If you are pushed for time, whether you have a flight to catch or if your Thai visa is close to expiring, then you can head straight from Hat Yai across the border into Malaysia to discover another beautiful country.
It is also worth bearing in mind that there are not any toilets on board the ferry services and, although the trip is scheduled to take just two hours, delays can be fairly common so it is best to take this into account!
