Superb service from 12go, when we originally booked a middle name was missed they rectified this very quickly with apologies. Bonus we got emergency exit seats which are always nice. Would definitely book with them again.

Stayed in a 6 berth 2nd class sleeper, only one other person came in during the night so it was mostly just myself and my husband in there. Journey was ok but the beds are very hard and uncomfortable so you can't really get a decent sleep. The cabin still had rubbish in it from the people before us and the toilets weren't very clean with lots of water on the floor. Would pay a bit more for first class if I did it again.

The train cabin did not match the picture on the trains website. We had a cabin that has not been refurbished. It was not very clean over all. The air conditioning was good. Despite being non-smoking, the passager in the cabin next to us was smoking the whole 18 hour trip. The toilet was ok but no toilet paper which we had planned for. There was a lot of food available on the train. The train was on time.

It was easy to exchange voucher for ticket at da nang station, which gives coach and cabin number. The trip to Saigon went well. The standard didn't quite meet that of Laman Express, but it also wasn't as expensive as Laman. It was great to view vietnamese countryside along the way.

Staff was helpful and sleeper was okay. Lots of cockroaches and mice which took away from the first class experience.

The driver was very nice, but after 15 minutes in the bus, we were requested to change to another bus. This second driver was crazy, very unpolite and not helpful at all, he could not speak a single word of english. Very bad experience!

No Violette carriage from Da Nang to ho chi Minh city. So put in 1st class ac. Bed clothes strewn across carriage from previous occupants. Toilet unusable if you need to sit. Thankfully I didn't. Best thing were the train staff. Lovely helpful people. Oh did I mention sharing my bed with 3 cockroaches?

The flight was delayed twice! We waited in the airport quite long and arrived in Ho Chi Minh 2am, which was not ideal. Thankfully our hotel manager waited, but they could have not for this late check in. Also for the multiple delayes the airline could have offered complimentary free drink or snack or something, but nothing. A little dissapointed.

My ride was not to bad, after reading all the other horrible experiences. By accident I booked a second class sleeper. It was hard, but doable. I saw only one cocarroge. The conductors were allright. The sheets clean. It was only very very cold because of the airco and I therefore hardly slept.

Compared to other developing countries that I've taken the train through, Viet Rail is not that bad. Wasn't horribly late in either direction, most of the USB ports and electrical outlets worked (a miracle in itself), the food was decent, the beds hard (but clean), the toilets not so clean with a bad design that left water sloshing in the bowl (and eventually out of the bowl). Might try the private cars the next time, though they are significantly more expensive.

I simply have no idea why they call this VIP. I don’t think we had more service. We certainly did not have a first class feeling to this trip. Beds were ok. We slept well... but that’s all. The rest was mostly filthy and comparable to a chinese local train. Please, improve your train system.

I found the se19 to be cleaner. The trip was delayed by an hour and a half over all, and I saw more cockroaches on this particular train. That being said, it’s not like they’re crawling on you, so if you’re feeling adventurous and don’t mind knowing they’re around you it’s not really a problem. My bigger complaint is the fluctuating temperature, causing it to be extremely cold and then very warm making it hard to sleep. Otherwise, it was fine.

Danang to HCMC
We didn't really get the beds we booked because of an older lady and her daughter sharing one of our beds when we arrived. They offered us one of the beds they booked which had less space.
Actually one can not sit in the upper beds and there is no ladder to climb up there. So no wonder the like 80 years old lady preferred to stay at ground level on one of our beds.
The people were nice and friendly. Stuff was also very friendly so all in all this was a funny experience.
If you book this train just prepare for a journey that will not end up as you might have thought.

12go is a good company. I booked travel through Thailand Vietnam Cambodia and always works out. The Vietnamese are rude at the airport. It’s hard to get information and I get the feeling they don’t want to speak English. Oh well, life goes on.

This specific wagon was much better than the first one. Much cleaner (the bedsheets had been freshly washed and folded), the AC worked properly (even a bit too cold), the train was not as noisy. Tue food on board this time was quasi inexistant though. The train was delayed on departure and arrival. The guy respomsabile for our wagon was very nice and clean so it helped a lot. Overall good relative experience. That's the reason why I put a 4.
